I first came across the work of Marc Johns when I was working at Barnes and Noble and noticed a very orange book titled 'H is for Holy Crap'. So I did what I usually do when a books cover catches my attention, I picked it up. It happened to be an art book and featured much artwork like the one pictured above. The unique thing about them were that they looked as if they were drawn by a 10 year old by the very minimalist style, matter-of-fact oddness, and the obvious caption below the drawing that often explained what it was or meant. While each drawing in the book were much like the next, they were still amusing to me. Most likely because I have always found myself enamored with minimalist and witty designs, and the fact that most of them are drawn on post-it notes made it that much more original and appealing to me. I was also drawn to the fact that it can only be something you like or dislike, there is really no in between, something you either find clever or annoying. I personally just happen to find them clever because it's not something I have particularly seen before and of course that is one of the main qualities I look for in design and art.
