At first glance to this still frame, I'm sure anyone who is interested in the computer world would remember this auspicious occasion when Bill Gates and Steve Jobs met for a long awaited interview. While this would not normally be considered design, it is not completely devoid of it. I cannot even begin to imagine the extent of the mind games played between those two on that night but this photo alone does lend a lot to what might have been. I am quite sure that the smiles on their faces are anything but real and if I didn't know any better I would say they were photoshopped. With that as a small example, I speculate that everything they said and did that night was merely a fabrication or a design of what it might look like if Bill and Steve were good old time buddies. While they did a good job of masking what they might have really said, the fact is that any moron who watched the interview or was present would have been able to sense the immense tension in the room, and it was there for good reason. While they have been friends in a sort of loose meaning of the word, they have always been very strong competitors and competitors are always battling it out to come out on top. Especially with such a bloodbath that comes with differing preferences between Mac and PC, I can only believe that the niceties exchanged that evening were anything but authentic. So, in a sense it does take a good amount of craftsmanship and strategy to pull off what they did. All in all, I would have loved to know what they were thinking in the photo at that point in time, because that would say it all.
